Presidential daughter throws jabs at Duterte critics

DAVAO CITY –Presidential daughter and incumbent Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio branded as opportunists 3 opposition politicians who are members of the new group called “Tindig Pilipinas” group which demanded that President Rodrigo Duterte stop extrajudicial killings in his anti-drug campaign.

Carpio branded the new group as “Hunger Games Pilipinas” and accused Senators Antonio Trillanes, Riza Hontiveros and Kiko Pangilinan of using and destroying her father for their own political interest.

She said Pangilinan even went to the extent of bugging her father, then mayor of Davao City, to endorse his presidential ambition. “Kiko Pangilinan- Several years ago nagkita tayo dito sa Davao, sa isang golf club, pinuntuhan mo si PRD (President Rodrigo Duterte). Gusto mo tumakbo Presidente, ansabe mo? “With Sharon’s indorsement and your (PRD) indorsement I’m sure I can make it.” Dati pa-indorse ka sa kanya ngayon may pa hunger games salute effect ka,” Carpio said.

Hontiveros, a strong critic of the President, also sought Duterte’s endorsement even while they were on the campaign trail. “Sa (newspaper) picture ikaw ang pinaka-makapal ang foundation acheng. Habang tinutulungan ko si PRD at ang nanay ko mangampanya, nasa byaheng du30 ako, ilang beses mo ako inabala, kinulit at tinawagan para humingi ka ng tulong sa boto mo sa Davao City? I can remember your bored face listening to me in our law office just so you can get support for Davao,” she said.

Carpio said Trillanes – a former coup leader – also begged for Duterte’s endorsement and become his running mate in the 2016 national polls.

“Trillanes – years ago, nag-request ka makipag kita sa akin dito sa Davao, nasa Damosa (shopping complex) ka, ano sabi ko sa emissary mo? No. You know why? I never liked your circus sa Manila Peninsula. Pero meron ako picture na nakipagkita ka kay PRD kasi humingi ka ng tulong niya sa VP campaign mo,” she said, referring to a failed coup that Trillanes led in November 2007.

But Carpio did not say anything about Vice President Leni Robredo, leader of the opposition, saying she is not a member of the Tindig Pilipinas. “VP Robredo – I’ll reserve my remarks kasi sabi mo naman hindi ka member ng Hunger Games Pilipinas,” the Mayor said.

Carpio swore that she is telling the truth about all these and has witnesses to corroborate her statement. “Lahat ito hindi chismis kasi personal knowledge ko at may corroborative witnesses ako. Matanong ko lang, nung mga panahon na humingi kayo ng tulong, may isyu ba kayo sa governance ni PRD? Wala.”

“Ngayon na nanalo na siya? Meron. Hunger Games, Pilipinas: Plastic na, oportunista pa. Kayo 3 may ambisyon mag Presidente, I grew up in politics, mas matagal pako sa pulitika kesa sa inyo 3 combined. I smell ambition a million miles away. Akala ninyo yung circus ninyo ngayon magpapanalo sa inyo sa 2022? Hindi. Ano ititindig niyo? Paninindigang Trapo. Mamuyboy ko? Yes. You don’t use PRD whenever convenient para sa pulitika ninyo. Kung wala ang boto ng Mindanao, mananalo kaya kayo?,” Carpio asked. (Mindanao Examiner)
